God
- We believe that there is one God, the Creator of all things (Deuteronomy 6:4, Exodus 20:3).
- God eternally exists as three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14). Each person is equally and eternally God. God’s existence as one being who exists as three persons is known as The Trinity.
- While idols (money, work, success, sex, food, etc.) try to steal our hearts, God alone is worthy of our worship (Matthew 4:10).
- God is eternal, he has no beginning and no end (Psalm 90:2). He transcends time and has always been and always will be.
- God is infinite, there are no limits to God. He is bigger than any pain, past, or mistake (Psalm 147:5).
- God is unchanging. His love, truth, and promises are true yesterday, today, and forever. He is steady and secure – even when life is not (Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8).
- God is wise. He always knows what is best, even when we do not understand why (Romans 11:33).
- God is good. He is good in every way – in what He does, what He allows, and who He is. We can trust God (Psalm 34:8).
- God is holy. He is completely pure and set apart from all things. He is not corrupted or broken like this world (Isaiah 6:3).
- God is righteous. He is always right, just, and fair. He cares deeply about injustice, pain, and the wrongs done to us (Psalm 145:17).
- God is merciful. He offers forgiveness, healing, and a fresh start through Jesus (Psalm 86:15).
- God is love. He sees us in our imperfection, knows our shortcomings, and still chooses to love us unconditionally (Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:8).
- God is relational. He desires to have a relationship with us and spend eternity with us in heaven. There is nothing we have done to earn God’s favor, yet God invites us into a relationship with Him (John 17:3).
The Father
- We believe that God the Father is the first person of the Trinity.
- God the Father is the creator and source of all life (1 Corinthians 8:6).
- God the Father is sovereign over all things. He rules over His creation with wisdom, power, and love (James 1:17).
- God the Father is our protector and provider. He cares for our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Psalm 147:3).
- God the Father is a father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5).
The Son
- We believe that Jesus Christ (God the Son) is the second person of the Trinity.
- Jesus is the Son of God – fully divine, fully human – sent into the world to save and redeem us (Colossians 2:9).
- Jesus was born miraculously of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18).
- Jesus experienced rejection, abuse, betrayal, poverty, and violence. He knows what it’s like to suffer, and He draws near to those who suffer (Hebrews 2:18).
- Despite these sufferings, Jesus never sinned (1 Peter 2:22). He is the only sinless human being to ever exist.
- Throughout Jesus’ life, He performed miracles over nature, sickness, and death. These miracles reveal Jesus’ power and compassion (Acts 2:22).
- The reason for Jesus’ life on earth was to die in our place (1 Corinthians 15:3). Jesus was killed by crucifixion where he was placed on a cross. While on the cross, God poured out the punishment that we deserve for our sins upon Jesus.
- Jesus conquered death by rising from the grave three days later (Matthew 28:6). His resurrection confirms His claims to be God in human form (1 Corinthians 15:17-20).
- Jesus returned to heaven after His resurrection and is currently seated at the right hand of God in heaven (Mark 16:19).
- Jesus will return in glorious power where He will wipe away every tear, judge evil, and make all things new (Acts 1:11, Revelation 21:4).
The Holy Spirit
- We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity.
- The Holy Spirit is a person and not a “force” since personal words are used to describe Him (John 14:26).
- The Holy Spirit gives new life to those that turn to Jesus for salvation (Titus 3:5).
- The Holy Spirit lives in every believer where He acts as our comforter, guide, and strength (John 14:16-17, John 14:26, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:9).
- The Holy Spirit works in us to make us more like Jesus (Galatians 5:16-23).
The Bible
- We believe that the Bible is God’s Word, written to show us who God is and who we are.
- The Bible was written by human authors who were inspired by God. He used their voices and styles, but the message is His (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21).
- The Bible is not just another “holy book” or religious text. The Bible is authoritative. It is the highest standard for what is true, right, and real (John 17:17).
- The Bible provides us with God’s definition of right and wrong (Psalm 119:9).
- Every part of the Bible is true and trustworthy. God cannot lie or make mistakes, therefore His Word is true and without error (Psalm 119:160, Hebrews 6:18).
- The Bible is understandable to anyone with a willingness to understand it. The Holy Spirit helps us understand the Bible, so you do not need to be a scholar to understand it (James 1:5).
- The Bible is sufficient for what we need to know about who God is, how to follow Him, and how to be saved from our sins (James 1:18).
Humanity
- We believe that every person is created by God with dignity, value, and purpose (Psalm 139:14).
- Every person is made in the image of God. While falling short of God in each of these areas, this means that we resemble God morally, intellectually, physically, relationally, emotionally, and spiritually (Genesis 1:26).
- Our value does not come from what we do, what others think of us, or what we have been through. It comes from being made by God and loved by Him. Nobody and nothing can take that away from us (Isaiah 43:4).
- God created both men and women in His image. He gave both men and women equal value, dignity, and spiritual standing. All are invited to be part of the family of God (Galatians 3:28).
- Though men and women are equal in value, they are created with distinct roles – such as in marriage (Ephesians 5:22-25).
- All people have sinned against God. Sin is any failure to live up to the moral standards God has for us. Sin is not just about bad actions and thoughts, it breaks our relationship with God and separates us from Him (Romans 3:23).
- Sin leads to spiritual death. Everyone deserves to be punished for their sins through eternal separation from God in hell (Ezekiel 18:20).
- Since God is holy, He cannot tolerate our moral imperfections (no matter how small they might seem to us). God has a perfect standard that we cannot meet (Romans 6:23).
Salvation
- We believe that salvation is a free gift from God that is offered to everyone, regardless of past mistakes or present circumstances. Salvation from sin is not something we can earn, it is something God does in us through Jesus.
- No one is too sinful, too damaged, or too far gone. Jesus came to seek and save the lost—which includes every single one of us (Romans 10:13).
- Since God’s standard for us is perfection, we can never earn salvation. Rather, salvation is a free gift that is offered to everyone by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).
- Salvation involves a turning away from sin (repentance) and a turning to Jesus (faith) (Acts 3:19, Acts 16:31).
- When we are saved from our sins, we are given a new spiritual life. God gives us a new heart and new desires – we are made new (Galatians 2:20, John 3:3).
- When we turn away from sin and turn to Jesus, we are made right with God. God declares us innocent of our sins and remembers our sins no more (Romans 8:1).
- Baptism is an outward symbol of the inward transformation that happens in Christ Jesus. It is a public testimony of faith in Christ which all believers should take part in (Romans 6:4).
- Salvation leads to adoption into God’s family. God adopts us as His sons and daughters, giving us identity, security, and belonging (1 John 3:1).
- After we are saved from our sin, God begins a process of making us more like Jesus – known as sanctification. This is not an immediate change, but an ongoing process of God working within us to conform us to His image (1 Thessalonians 4:3).
The Church
- We believe that the Church is not a building, it is the people of God.
- The Church is the body of Christ. This is a spiritual family of all followers of Jesus who glorify God, care for one another, and share the good news of Jesus with those around them (1 Corinthians 12:27).
- While all believers are part of the global Church, God also calls us to gather in local churches. These are communities of faith where we worship God, learn about God, pray, and grow together (Hebrews 10:25).
- The global Church is united in Christ as one body of believers. We are called to be united and love one another (Ephesians 4:4-5, John 17:23).
Eternity
- Death is a consequence of sin, but it is not the final stage of our existence. For followers of Jesus, death means being with God (Philippians 1:21-23).
- Jesus will eventually return as the King and Judge of the earth (Revelation 1:7).
- Every person will stand before God and be judged (2 Corinthians 5:10).
- Hell is the eternal separation from God which is the destination of those who reject Jesus as their Savior (Matthew 25:41). God does not desire for anyone to perish in hell (2 Peter 3:9).
- For those that have trusted in Jesus as their Savior, they will be granted eternal life in heaven. There will be no more pain or tears, rather it is a place of perfect peace, beauty, and joy. Above all else, we will be with God forever (Revelation 21:4, 1 Thessalonians 4:17).
